Mystery tv needs help!

Chris dropped off the AMC set Saturday, so I had that and the maggie to work on during the rainy weekend. It will need a flyback, but I got it going half arsed by removing the charred rubber "tire" from around it, and then using some silicone for insulation.
This won't last, but at least I could see the set produce a picture!
As far as locating a transformer, I tried moyers, Bursma, and another company in Florida with no success. (the Wells-Gardner part #53X0 440 001 the Thordarson part #Fly 333) Does anyone know of any other companies that might have this?

Try Chesters Electronics in kenosha, WI. This is the place that Mark goes to with good success on vintage parts. Perhaps they have a FLY-333. I have a few different thordarson flys but I know I don't have that one.

Thanks Doug! That worked great! They shipped it today, and it was only $20!

I thought there could'nt be any way that this was available still. Well, I was wrong! Going to Chester Electronics must be like stepping back in time. The price I paid for that flyback seems to be what I was paying for them in the late 70's!
I like that!

Yes, it's a time warp in there. I'll say it again......I love Chesters!
I picked up my new '77 Sansui SR-636 TT in there, still in the box with a Shure V15 type IV cart and also a really nice Sansui 1000a

Oh, thought I'd show a pic of it working with the rigged flyback. It's actually running cool and not arcing. Oh well, I will change it out anyway when the new one arrives just to be safe.

Dwight, thanks for posting those pictures! I'm so glad to see it working...

Were there bad caps that killed the flyback, or did it just need the insulator "renewed"?

I'm glad i was able to save it, wouldn't surprise me if that was the last one.

I also noticed you replaced the dead indicator lamp. Post some pictures of your "clean up" when you get the chance.

Wow, that thing really cleaned up nice. I like the style of it too, it don't have that "cheap" look that most economy sets had.
