New supply of TV tubes, used, New?
I recently bought some tubes from Radiotinkerer on bay from him. He has many TV tubes used and new? He tests them for quality on Hickok and other tube testers.
AES just told me today they no longer support TV tubes and are slowly phasing out their stock. ![]() If anyoneone else knows of a private supplier please post here for all tv collectors.Good info for anyone who doesn't have the time or space to stockpile tubes.

What dummys. Just when the market was getting better for these tubes. I hate to bash AES seeing as I used to use them alot. But they are moving away from old radio stuff to cater to guitar stuff. Some of those products are cheap knockoffs. I have bought amp parts from AES and MOJO and the MOJO stuff was better quality and more original looking.

Sad to see AES ditching their tv tube stuff, but the prices they have on some of that stuff, especially their color tv sweep tubes, is through the roof. You will do much better to get those through ebay.
I gather that AES gets their tubes through mostly government surplus auctions, which probably isn't a hot spot for tv tubes. Maybe they just ebay them and tack on the $50 plus price tag to avoid having to deal with them. I still use AES for most of my stuff, simply because they are a one stop shop, and while I may get better rates on ordering my stuff from other suppliers, the combined shipping is deadly. Pretty much when I can no longer get the tubes I need from them, that will be it. |

I used to buy alot from AES, but it seems they dont need business from the little man, got way too pricy for me, I found a place near me in Michigan City In. they have a nice stash of tubes, not the biggest, but well worth the time to check out. they have a wide selection of electronic parts. I've bought tubes from a couple guys in the past few years, especially since the AES prices on sweep tubes are quite high.
Bob Bieker (N9TEW) - http://www.hamtubes.com and Michael Marx (WB0SND) - http://www.vacuumtubes.com Both guys are pleasant to deal with, helpful, and ship quickly. No connection to either one, just a satisfied customer. -Jim |

When I have to buy horizontal output tubes for my Zenith roundie they cost $50 apiece from AES. Maybe I'll start looking elswhere if they are phasing out TV tubes. That is probably a good reason to only have a few TVs in the collection, cheaper to maintain.

I have quite a stash of TV tubes, but not the high-end sweep stuff. I think the only 6JE6s I have are used. If anyone needs the more common stuff, let me know. I have series string tubes coming out of my ears...
Lots of work in buying/sorting tubes. Not much profit in it, I suppose. Last I bought mail order were from Radio Daze, and they have left the tube business completely. Seems everytime I bought a tube from AES they sent me the wrong one.

I have a big box of brand new color TV sweep tubes, and I don't think I will ever own
a tube type color TV, so there is hope. Would be glad to help, of course! |

I will have to try these sources...I need to get some 50HK6 tubes for some radios. I know we've had good luck from New Sensor corporation for currently made tubes such as Electro-Harmonix like 6973's, 7868's etc. for jukeboxes and also 500v electrolytic capacitors, cloth-covered wire, etc. |
