Late Zenith Combo on CL N.O.
In case anyone is interested...
http://neworleans.craigslist.org/ele/1438929849.html ![]() Probably the latest Zenith combo I've seen - late seventies? I love the verbage of the ad though: "Stereo, 8 track & record player works great. TV hasn't been used in a long time. Not sure if works." and "Make reasonable offer Only serious offers considered." Oh yeah, I almost forgot. It's also an "antique." |

It's hard to say what chassis is in it. It's highly possible that it's got the horizontal solid state chassis of the early '70's or maybe the vertical CCII chassis. I don't think it's new enough to have a system 3 chassis. It does look like a remote set.
By them mentioning "antique", that means they aren't planning on letting it go for $10 or $20. |

It is a good looking combo unit I must say, it looks like a 1978. My grandparents had one almost identical to it and I swear I remember the Chromacolor badge on it with Zoom feature...

is it just me or do other find "make offer" and "only serious offers will be considered"
why not just do a little homework, or just put a price you can live with, and let the intrested parties have some idea of what you want. maybe its just me but I hate that dance. |

I hate that dance also because usually when I make someone an offer, they are insulted. Normally, when someone says "make an offer", they are looking for someone to offer tham a ton of money for their treasure.
Just tell me what you want for your junk. If the price is too high and they won't accept a counter offer, I walk away. |

The only time I ever used "make offer" was when I had either no idea what something was worth, or just wanted it gone and really didn't care. But I agree, the majority of sellers have "pie in the sky" ideas.
I ought to make a serious offer of $5.00 to this person. $5.00 is seriously all I'd be willing to pay for a broken TV, BSR changer and a Hong Kong/Taiwanese stereo that I couldn't give away locally. |

That would be $5 more than most anyone else would give. You should try it just to see what happens.

I'll tell you what happens: my wife may just start throwing the frying pans at me! I'm happy the Rock-Ola 488 that followed me home tonight was well received (she likes the purple & blue design.)

Nice! Much better deal than that $125 torn up POS that's at the local chruch run "bargain center". I think I remember seeing some like this at the Pizza Hut's here in town.
