It's one of those "sits on a pedestal models" and it looks like a remote set. And for once, the ad actually says the set is newer than it really is, I think that's a 1975 model, not early 80s. If it were just a couple of years older and used the hand-wired chassis I would be replying to the ad right now. But for the cc2 it's not worth it to deal with trying to tie it up in the trunk of my wife's small car (all I have here) and hauling it on the freeway. I'm still thinking about it, I'm hoping somebody else here wants this so I don't have to figure out how to fit a 25" console in the trunk of a small Volvo. craiglist wierdness
I used be able to find things like this (way outside FL) but now when I try to go to craiglist it always to defaults to a city (like tampa etc...) sorry to post this in this thread but thought with all the CL searching maybe someone could set me straight. That's the "Avanti" It's about a '73 to '75. Looks like it's all yellow with smoke too. Not worth the hassle IMHO.

I figure if it hasn't sold already, I'll go and check it out, and pass if it isn't a remote model like I think it is. I like this set, because I sort of see it as the very last model (in terms of both cabinet and chassis) of what I would still consider a serious well-built console television.

It does look to be remote. Worth a look I suppose, it has the die-hard flat chassis.

My uncle had one of those. He also had the matching stereo/turntable/speakers. They all had that white base. One of the speakers had a lava lamp and the other a fiber optics lamp on to. A total disco dream.
The tv had the clicker tuning fork style remote. (im blanking out on zeniths name for it right now) That was good quality stuff and I bet it would still be working today. I so wish I had it today.

The number on the back, F4760X, corresponds to sams 1453, which puts it in 1975, which I think should be the later vertical modular chassis, which I don't like nearly as much as the flat chassis. The ones I've had always seemed to have hard to track down intermittent faults (either gunked up controls, bad solder connections, or trouble making contact where the modules plug in), but when they do work they tend to produce a nice picture.

A SS flat chassis will have a back cover just like a tube set and have the small cone shaped cap. The "F" in the model number indicates that it is indeed a '75 model. Most likely a 25FC45 chassis, so that one will have the infamous safety capacitor in there if it hasn't been changed out already.

Unfortunately, it's not the flat chassis. It's a 25EC45 upright, non-remote. And the deal breaker is that it has the dreaded slide-lock tuner. And as others point out, it's badly tobacco'd. I'd pass! Those aren't rare (yet), and you can find a flat chassis which is a much better set to work with.
Adam, it's up to you, and I do respect anyone who wants to save a set... But there are much better fish...... Charles

You sure that's not a remote set? I've been wanting a 25" Zenith in that cabinet, and while I would prefer the flat chassis, with the vertical chassis I still want to go check it out (if the guy ever gets back to me), but I would pass on it for sure if it has neither the flat chassis nor the remote.

If I could fine this set with the flat chassis; I'd drop $50 on it in a heartbeat if it was in good condition. Years ago, I saw one of those sets that used the flat chassis and a standard rotary tuner and it had a great picture.
