25" RCA CTC120 color console - Videokarma.org TV - Video

I was given this beat up '85 25" RCA CTC120 by a friend. He said it had been sitting in his Aunt's garage for at least 15 years. As you can see, it's very nasty and the CRT is weak. I was able to adjust the bias and drive controls for a decent picture; but, the tube still registers "bad" on my CRT tester. My B&K 480 took a dump and the older 470 that I used to test this tube has a dead rejuvenate function. I did "cook" the tube on 8 volts; but, it did not help. It probably will respond to rejuvenation once I fix my equipment. I don't know what I'll end up doing with this. I tried advertising it locally for $20; but, no luck (of course). I guess I'll either stash it here with the rest of the junk or give it to someone who really needs it. That is, if I can find someone who doesn't think they are too good to own such an old TV.

Hey, if the cabinet was better it could be worth finding a new crt or at least a sub....if it's got the remote then of course it's more desirable for such a late set.

No, I don't have the remote but I think a universal will work it. I'm going to try and do some work on the cabinet and also try to get the smell out of the inside. These 120's were great sets and had a good picture when working right. Also note that this is one of the later RCA's that was made before GE bought them.

I have a 1984 120C sitting in my basement... cabinet's in much better shape... CRT probably isn't though... good bit of color bleeding...

At least three years ago, long before the digital switch, I found one of those in the trash and brought it home just to see what it would do.

It made a great picture straight from the curb.

I couldn't give it away on Craigslist.

Sorry to poop on your parade, but everyone of the tenants who live in the houses I rent has cable, and a better (i.e. more expensive, newer) TV set than I do... In addition to a half-dozen other expensive toys I don't own.
