Director John Hughes is dead.
"John Hughes, prolific director of such culturally significant films such as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Home Alone has died suddenly of a heart attack while taking a morning walk during a trip to Manhattan to visit family."

That's very sad to hear. I've been on a big 80s kick for months now and it really would not have been the same without him. He made WAY more films than I initially knew of; ones that have not been mentioned yet but will be.
He will be missed. I'm throwing on the She's Having A Baby soundtrack as soon as I finish this post. R.I.P. John

Some of my all time favorite comedy movies were directed by him. I remember seeing The Breakfast Club in Breckenridge, CO in 1985 on my Spring Break Senior trip. It was a blizzard that night and it was just all of us that trudged the the theater to see the movie. Some great memories....

At the McHenry Drive In on August 21-22, there going to show two of his movies: Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club.

I was floored when I heard this on the news. His movies certainly helped to illustrate a generation.

Very sad indeed. I had recently watched "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". I really like that movie as well as many of his others. R.I.P.
