Found: Zenith E1345-3 12" portable.
I came across this little 12" Zenith while making the rounds today.
I'm not sure what year this is, mid 70's maybe? It appears to be a hybrid or possibly all tubes, it also has an instant-on feature but the CRT is still strong, I don't see a way to switch it fully off. It was made in Taiwan but still has the Zenith family resemblance, at least on the outside. The chassis is a 12CB12ZX Any info on this set? Oh yeah, I paid $2 for it

I'd guess mid seventies as well, maybe 1974.

That's a new one on me. I have a 1984, Z-1310 that appears to be made in Springfield, MO. (my guess would have been Mexico).

I remember that set, used to see lots of them at resale shops as a kid. It is indeed a 1974, defined by the "E" in the model number.

Nice save! And, of course it works like a charm! It's a Zenith! I have a '70 Zenith with the same control layout. Just an older looking case.
BTW, wasn't '75 the last year for Zenith tube type B&W's?

Yep, '75 (F line) was Zenith's last year for chassis tubes in both B+W and Color TV.

I don't see how you're getting any kind of reception on that TV, unless it's tuned to a low-power or translator station--or if you are feeding a signal to it from a VCR or a DVD player.

I've got a similar set that's cream with a grey cabinet, and no pedestal. It doesn't have the woodgrain speaker grill either, but the angled CRT bezel and control placement is exactly the same. I've seen various sets with different cabinet designs that use this chassis. They made some in really funky colors, including a red white and blue bicentennial model, one in fluorescent orange, and lime green.
Mine has a production date tag of 1975. It's a hybrid chassis with solid state tuner and IF sections, and a solid state HV rectifier. The set is built in Taiwan, completely out of American made components, including sprague orange drop caps. It still has the classic Zenith style hand wired chassis with solder lug construction. The transistors actually have sockets rather than being soldered into the board.
