Airline GS-3020 and 16TP4 note

Hey guys,

I scored this Airline (Montgomery Wards) GSE-3020 today

I found a note inside regarding the 16TP4 tube I thought you might find interesting:

"Lack of manufacturing standardization of the 16" rectangular picture tube has resulted in various types of 16TP4 tubes being made with different characteristics...."

"...IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE TUBE SHIPPED WITH THE RECEIVER WITH ONE HAVING THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FOCUS PROPERLY..."

That's a pretty dire warning! This one was replaced in '64 and seems to be fine

Nice find! Pretty bizzare warning. I wonder how much of the blame goes to Montgomery Wards.
