Thumbs up John Doe on the Disney Channel

My daughter was watching The Wizards of Waverly Place and John Doe just did a guest appearance in the episode called Helping Hand from the new season. For those that don't know who I'm talking about John Doe is the lead singer and bassist for the legendary L.A. Punk Rock band X. John has done many movie and TV appearances over the years but I was a bit surprised to see him on the Disney Channel. My kids thought I was crazy when I jumped out of my chair when I first spotted him. He's still cool no matter what he's doing.

Well I'm glad to see at least one person respond to this thread. And I though all AK members watched the Disney Channel.

That is as crazy as seeing Public Image Limited on American Bandstand. If you have a good memory then that is as crazy as seeing Captain Beefheart on American Bandstand. Both happened...

You know what's really cool? Last year I let my niece (She's 17 now...) have some of my records when I set her up with a vintage system. Along with some of the ones I let her have I also threw in some that I said she could borrow, meaning I wanted them back. Included in the borrowed ones were two X albums (Self titled and Under the Big Black Sun...). I told her a few weeks ago I wanted to get the borrowed ones back from her one of these days thinking that she probably wasn't all that into them. Her reply was... "NO!!! Can I just keep them for a little longer???" Turns out that X is now one of her favorite bands of all time and her and her boyfriend are spending 300 bills each to go to the Cochella Festival just so they can see X play! Talk about about being a proud uncle!!! I also found out that the Cramps (another one I let her borrow...) are one of her favorite bands now too! Now she keeps telling me... "Dude, I want to come and look through your records one day so I know what's good."

The bad part about it is now I don't have the heart to get the records I let her borrow back from her. Those are the ones she likes the most.

You're a good man! So is she more into the Johnny Hit And Run Pauline sound or The World's a Mess, It's In My Kiss sound?

I really didn't get that much into it with her. She said she loves both of the records and has since picked up the More Fun In the New World CD which she also loves. I was just super surprised how much she likes them. I'm looking forward to turning her on to a lot of other good stuff.
