A nice chromacolor II came my way!

My friend with the tv shop stopped by my work to tell
me he had one of those zeniths that i might like.He said
that a customer asked him to carry it to the curb.I thought
it was probably a system 3 that wouldn't be of much interest.
Much to my surprise,I was greeted by a pristine chromacolor II.
The set played well, but had poor green response.I pulled the
back, and it looked like this was the first time this was done.
A check of the tube found a weak green gun.After a clean/balance
and a setup, this thing has a remarkable picture!Like all zeniths,
built like a tank!
19kc48 chassis--built in mexico september,1978
One question-do you zenith guys think I should replace the safety
cap as a preventative measure?

Nice save! The K line was the last CCII chassis and was made as late as 11/79 and maybe early 1980.

I think that safety cap will be fine. It's the white ones that were used in the E and F lines that you need to worry about. I've never seen one of the orange ones fail.

I may be wrong, but if the capacitor in question is orange, you should be okay. I think the high voltage issue only concerned the white caps.

Anyone care to verify?

White cap BAD, Orange GOOD. It was the 1974 and 1975 production runs that had the bad caps. Nice find.

Agreeing with the others, the orange safety cap is fine. Never seen one fail. Nice set too! That's the last Delta Gun tube Zenith...
