Came across an old looking RCA black and white TV - Videokarma.org TV - Video

Didn't pick it up though. It's a rectangular CRT, with the full 83 channel UHF tuner. Couldn't find a date on it. Probably pre solid state.

Is it worth saving? I have no use for such a TV. It's a 19 inch tabletop model with a carrying handle.

If you want it from a collector standpoint (and it sounds like you don't) or know a collector close by who may want it or if you just wanted to play around with a tube type TV, I'd get it.

If you wanted it to fix and sell, I'd leave it alone. You probably couldn't give it away if you taped a $10 bill to the screen. Back in the early '90's, a set like that would bring between $35 and $50 in good condition. About eight years ago, I sold my last 19" B&W for $10; and, it took some time to do that. It was a clean mid '70's Zenith SS B&W in excellent working condition.

Did it have the new RCA logo or the old one? Either way, hard to move. I have one from about '68, a little rough, as well as models from Zenith & Admiral. I'd give them to a new caretaker in a heartbeat, if someone came by and wanted them!

The logo looked old "RCA Victor"

I don't know anyone who would want it. The last black and white TV I found was from 1958, and I couldn't GIVE that one away for free on here. Finally got rid of it at a yardsale.

If it had the old "RCA Victor" logo, it can't be any later than early '69. It was sometime in '69 when they went to the modern "RCA" bliock logo.

Did this one have the knobs on the front or the top? My first TV was an early '60's RCA Victor with the knobs on the top. Mine didn't have a UHF tuner; but, there was a space for one.

I'd sure like to have another '77-'78 19" B&W Zenith - I have looked for another one since I lost mine in 2004 with no luck.

If it has UHF but it's tubes then it probably falls somewhere between 1963 and 197?

Does it look anything like this 1970 RCA?

Does it have a continuous (undetented) UHF tuner? That means it's a pre-'75.

Does it have the 'no user serviceable parts inside' statement on the back? That means its SS.

It had a continuous UHF tuner, and it did NOT look like the one Eric H posted. However the knobs were in the front.

It was a kind of pale brown and goldish color. Pretty sure it was a tube set.

Yes, definately 60s with that logo. Sounds similiar to the one I have, which is woodgrain I think and has a brown grille cloth. The control panel looks something like a CTC-31/38/early 40. Probably a decent set tuned up but unloved & unwanted, I'm afraid!

Yeah. Unloved and unwanted, at least by anyone that I know. Honestly I hate black and white TV's. I keep a small one for emergency usage (Might need a DTV box for it fairly soon) but that's it.

I'd take a CTC-38, hell I'd take a CTC-92! The unloved, unwanted sets like this are going to be VERY rare one day. Value aside, I think they're great sets....even if b&w. Major plus for these is that they're free or 99 cents now.
