Any one else a fan? Most TV i find as pure tripe. However, this show in my opinion Is the best TV show I can remember. Some folks may have this on DVR and haven't seen it yet so I'll not play spoiler here.

Sad to see this end but I thought they did a very good job closing it out.

If they follow the usual pattern, it won't be until next year (or the year after?) that I get to see this here in Hong Kong. For whatever reasons, it is always a season later here.

I like the original series with Lorne Greene, probably better than the later one, although I enjoy both. The religious stuff in the newer series is a wee bit 'heavy' at times, IMO, but I still enjoy watching it. I recently found the music/soundtrack to the original Battlestar Galactica movie and series, on vinyl LP. I also have the original movie and some of the series on VHS and LaserDisk. Cool show, even if the production values are a little out-dated by today's standards.

I am glad it was on the DVR. It gave me the ability to fast forward through the slow boring parts, to come to a boring end. So much for the SciFi channel...

The most astounding thing was to find out Bob Dylan was not the original composer of All Along The Watchtower.

I only caught the last hour of the final show, but do plan on filling it in when rerun.
It was as others have described, what the rest will be compared to in the future.

I thought it was very well done.

Seems like writers over the past few years of cinema and TV struggle to come up with endings that are entertaining. The end results are typically shocking, implausible, or lackluster that are completely unsatisfying and a complete letdown.

I was worried that BSG would fall into the same trap and was expecting one of those shocking endings but was pleasantly surprised. A very well thought out story arc with a conclusion that fit in with the tone of the entire series and made sense, IMHO.

Good question. Was wondering others thoughts on this as well.

I thought it was a nice touch with them looking at a map of the new planet while still on board BSG and it was "our" Earth. There was a comment that they would call it Earth "even though it's not the real one".
Then the fast forward to us in the present 150,000 years later.

I found this interesting tidbit on the Wikipedia page about "All Along the Watchtower" - I was looking for Dylan's thoughts on his composition. Instead, what first grabbed my eye is what a critic had to say:
Christopher Ricks has commented that "All Along the Watchtower" is an example of Dylan's audacity at manipulating chronological time: "at the conclusion of the last verse, it is as if the song bizarrely begins at last, and as if the myth began again."

Dylan's own comments mirror that thought:
"I haven't fulfilled the balladeers's job. A balladeer can sit down and sing three songs for an hour and a half... it can all unfold to you. These melodies on John Wesley Harding lack this traditional sense of time. As with the third verse of "The Wicked Messenger", which opens it up, and then the time schedule takes a jump and soon the song becomes wider... The same thing is true of the song "All Along the Watchtower", which opens up in a slightly different way, in a stranger way, for we have the cycle of events working in a rather reverse order."

"All this has happened before, and all this will happen again." Methinks the choice of that song was in no way a fluke. If it was, that's one whale of a coincidence.

If you haven't seen it and plan on seeing it don't read any further.

When they jumped to this "new earth" and we saw the moon and the continent of Africa I was really confused because they had already established that Earth the humans last hope was destroyed thousands of years earlier in another war. In that episode I do not recall seeing any continents clearly.

Obviuosly we were all completely surprised to find out that our earth was not the earth that was destroyed by war thousands of years earlier and that really our earth is the new hope for man kind. Another chance to "get it right".

It would be interesting to find they based the theme of the show on the song. The very last exchange between the "Gius Baltar and Six" based "angels" mirrors the song yet again with a twist of hope at least from one of them. A bit of departure from the cycle of creation and distruction repeating endlessly.

Kudos again to the writers and producers of the show.
