Thumbs down General Electric stock in the toilet

Heard on the NBC (owned by GE) nightly news that GE's stock is trading around $6 a share, down from about $44 a year ago. Supposidly GE is the only original member of the DOW.

Not that it much matters today, I don't think they actually manufacture anything anymore, except maybe light bulbs.

They make airplane engines, wind turbines... big multi million (billion) contracts, that sort of thing.

They are rebadgers in consumer electronics though. So GE, to us anyway, is in fact dead.

They own what used to be Amersham and (part of) Pharmacia under the auspices of (guise of) GE Healthcare.

Might actually be a good time to buy some GE stock. I don't think they'll go belly up, and really things can only improve.

I trade stocks for a living, and GE is definitely not the time to buy yet. Wait until it reaches less than $2.50.

GE actually does make things, many BIG things--quite diversified, actually.

Having worked in an animal hospital the Carecredit pay plan was owned by GE. Usually used when your pet needs surgery, GE foots the bill for two years (maybe 12 mos? I forget now...) giving you time to pay up interest free. But after that, it gets VERY expensive fast.

The down trend was predictable. I didn't expect it to go this low. Part of that due to the overall market status.

Also partly due to the leadership.
