found a cute lil Zenith B&W taiwan made set today
My neighborhood antique store has this today, since i'm a regular,they let me have it for a few dollars. I know it is a Taiwan made set, but i couldn't resist it's cuteness. Am i crazy? Logan

Not a bad looking telly. Those usually perform quite well. Try DXing while analog is still alive.

Nice little set! Nothing wrong with it being made in Taiwan - if you like it that's what counts.

I really like the Mod 70's styling of this set. The thing that really amazed me, was how clean it is, I don't think is has been used for more than a week during it's entire lifetime. I opened the case so i could deoxit the volume control and there was almost no dust inside. I spent some time checking around the tuner to see how many stations i could still pick up and was able to detect faint image on 2 channels i have never seen before. The Nashville area normally has 5 UHF stations, 3 of them have stopped broadcasting programming and repeat a DIY clip on hooking up a converter box to your sdtv set. All 4 VHF stations are still broadcasting regular programs.
My neighborhood has a very high RF noise level hence the noisy screenshot in my first post. and the fact i had to turndown the brightness so i could photograph image and exterior of the set Logan

I had a Zenith TV set (model J121Y, also made in Taiwan) almost exactly like yours back in 1978. Purchased new from a (now defunct) TV/appliance store in suburban Cleveland for $62. Mine was in a black cabinet, however, and the control cluster was set against a silver and black background (likely a cheap stamped plate that was glued on). All solid state (I'm sure it wasn't a hybrid, as the words "solid state" appear on the control panel almost smack-dab in between the VHF and UHF tuners). The set worked very well for me and lasted 22 years--typical Zenith before Goldstar got hold of the company. The TV was still working well, with a sharp, bright picture, when I finally got rid of it (no room in my small apartment with two 19" color sets). I hope whomever snagged my set after I put it out for the trash was or is getting some use out of it, as it still had plenty of life left in it.
