Finally - A Zenith roundie. First find of 2009!
And what a beauty it is! Came from the original family and was wonderfully preserved. It had been sitting in the living room covered with a TV on top of it for more than 20 years!
They apparently gave up using it after the replacement CRT developed cataracts in the mid 80s - and so it sat. The cataracts are the some of the worst I've seen, but it should make for easy glass face removal. There is a sticker indicating the replacement CRT being installed in 1971. It's missing the Green colored "peak pix" knob but other than that everything is in excellent condition. I absolutely love the colonial cabinet and the veneer is perfect! Its a model 5126 with the 25LC30 chassis. Anything to look out for on this chassis? This one is a keeper.

Nice set. The Zenith roundies seem harder to find around here than the RCAs, whereas the opposite seems to be true with the early rectangular color sets, for which I see more Zeniths than anything else.

What a beauty! I like that cabinet and the simple control panel better than most of the other Zeniths. You lucked out finding that with it's original owner.
When you ask about pointers on this chassis, the only one that comes to mind is the coils on the convergence subchassis: They fall apart if you look at them funny. If one does, you can carefully rewind it and make a splint around it with fishing line, then wipe some clear silicone rubber over the outside of the coil to secure it permanently (and not too visibly). Naturally, be careful not to let silicone get inside, and glue the slug in place .I probably have that green knob... PM me if you haven't found one, and want me to look for it... Charles

Nice find! I have one of those as a parts set. unfortunately mine had a really rough life. It looks the same but has the 25MC33 chassis. I have that green knob, it's yours if you want it.

Boy, I cannot tell you how many of these I worked on in the late '60's. These were pretty common back then and probably the best selling model in the Zenith product line. On the used market, they still sold well into the early '70's.
