Just Picked up a 1992 Sony Trinitron XBR
It was on Craigslist for $50, I was in the market for a curved surface so I could use the light guns on my Sega Saturn Virtua Cop game.
I was shocked, the tv came with a subwoofer that sits on top of the backing of the TV and 2 side speakers! Ive never seen anything like it before! |

Nice TV! looks like you got a deal. It also looks like we have the same entertainment center, is there two glass doors above the tv?

I come across that stuff pretty often, I'll keep my eyes peeled. It sucks that I just got rid of a set with the badge you need, figures. That subwoofer is awesome! I hope it is sheilded like crazy. I need to get that model of Sony. It is cool that we have the same entertainment center, those are built like tanks. No camlocks or cardboard backs. I think ours here is from about 1993 judging by what the guy said when I bought it last year.

Thank you! BTW I just did a little advertisement for audiokarma on digitpress.com
Its a retro gaming forum, that will soon be looking for retro TVs due to the need for quality crt televisions. Knowledge is power! |

That's one of the best XBRs ever made! It has the better power supply than the newer ones, much more reliable. The only thing that ever goes wrong on those is bad connections, and OCCASIONALLY a blown power supply control IC (STR-S6301, if I recall).
You have to resolder all of the standby B+ regulator ICs, which are basically all lined up on heatsinks from front to rear, in the center of the main bottom PC board. Also the IF pack has bad connections. While in there, solder the horizontal drive transformer and the output transistor. Charles
