80's Toshiba with Intermittant Audio
My grandmother gave me her late 80's bedroom set, a 20" Toshiba to fix. It has an audio issue that starts after the set has had a few minutes to warm up. The audio either cuts out or gets very quiet every few minutes, and a slap to the side of the case brings it back. I figured it would be cold solder joints on the PCB. Would resoldering any cold joints on the audio section take care of it?

I don't know, but from working on a few 80's Toshiba's I recommend replacing every red/brown colored electrolytic cap you can find, especally in the vertical circuit.

With no model number, I pulled up all Toshiba Audio gripes. Here's what I have:

Thanks for the troubleshooting page. It's symptoms are exactly the same as the fourth description on that page. Looks like I have some soldering to do.

I can't remember all the model numbers, but look to see if the main TV chip is a TA-7777 (and a suffix letter or two). If so, carefully solder all of the pins on that chip. I've seen that many many times in the early & mid-80s Toshibas.
