Just FYI, this monitor has no built in B+ power supply. There is a filament supply but that huge 10 pin Jones plug near the bottom is where the BIG power supply plugs in. There are two versions of the power supply, the earlier is all tube and a later version solid state.

Interesting. Knowing nothing about broadcasting equipment . . . what would be displayed on the little oscilloscope screen? If something basic like signal strength, you'd think a simple meter would do.

The oscilloscope screen is a waveform monitor. It displays the video signal as a trace, for adjustment of video levels, pedestal, and observation of sync signals. Waveform monitors are still in use in television stations to this day. RCA sold this unit as a "Master Monitor", to incude the video monitor and waveform in one unit.

This is along the lines of the monitors in Julian's remote TV van, as outlined in another thread. I noticed those scopes there, too, and found it interesting.

Yes, and even more: H and V Drive, Composite Blanking as well as that huge [not included] power supply I mentioned above. The various signals would come from a broadcast sync generator. Such generators are found on eBay from time to time, like Tektronix 146 through 149 types. The original from RCA had almost 100 tubes and filled a 6 ft high equipment rack.

Really? Were these signals inputted through the power supply multipin connector? Because the picture in the auction of this monitor only shows two UHF style connectors for video on the back, which I presume are for video in and loop out.

It originally had a green overlay over the scope tube. Either it went bad or someone didn't like it.
