I have a soft spot for sci-fi, and have been eating up this stuff.
Well, guess what???????
Fringe is filming on my block tomorrow, as well as at Brooklyn College, which is about three blocks away.
Several weeks ago, I found a note in my box asking if the studio could shoot in my house.
I really, really need the money, but as I will not disturb my ill father, nor move my birds, I declined.
They found another location.

Law and Order films in the neighborhood.
Other shows religiously do the same.
Several movies have been filmed here. The Funeral with Christopher Walken, and some TV movie with Sir Olivier and Ruth Gordon, in the 70's.

Even a Bollywood movie was recently done here. Odd, but true.

rock on, notransistors. i have been watching Fringe too, and enjoy it a lot. john noble, the actor playing dr. bishop, single handedly raises the entire show several notches simply by the strength of his oddly nuanced, powerful acting. w/o him, the show would suffer.

and i love the idea of somehow making the cornpone cliche of 'the mad scientist' work. its brilliant. echoes of the good old days of X-Files

I like the show too. I think its starting to get better as the episodes are getting intertwined with each other. The show reminds of the X-files which I used to watch all the time.

I like all the actors with Anno Torv being at the top of the list.

Here's the poop:
On my way out the door this morning, I saw that they had already set up shop on this block, and on the college campus.
If I had been able to park anywhere near the school, I would have. Apparently, all the campus shots that you see are done right here.
I just took the garbage out. They are still filming. If it wasn't so friggin' cold, I would be out there watching. I don't need to turn this residual-from-the-flu cough to turn into something worse.

Took me a while to figure out where I'd seen John Noble before. Then I realized that he was Denethor. I like the show as well, and I will second the comment that Noble's character raises it to another level.

Bringing this thread back from the dead because the show just ended it's run last night.

I started watching it on DVD shortly after the first season aired but got sidetracked by some family issues and didn't get back to it until a couple three months ago, since then I've been watching it in several episode marathons to get caught up, culminating in nine hours of watching yesterday to get ready for the final two episodes which I watched today.

Simply put this is one of the best Sci-Fi shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
The ending was very satisfying, unlike Lost which left me rather disappointed.

John Nobel has never won an Emmy for his work on this show, a total disgrace in my opinion. His portrayal of Walter is a masterpiece, even more so since there is more than one version of Walter and he plays them all with great skill.
Maybe this year he will get the honor he deserves.

I had forgotten that this forum existed until getting a note that the thread was added to.

Seems like Sci-Fi is not the moneymaker it used to be. The genre was even renamed to 'Sy-Fy' or some such nonsense on cable and dish networks. I knew that the show was headed for destruction when it would leave you hanging for months before airing the next episode. And on top of that, filming was moved back to Vancouver to save money.
Aren't these the same group of producers/directors that gave us 'Lost', and are currently making 'Hawaii Five-0'? Lost was annoying and Hawaii is just as bad. It has survived as long as it has only because it shares its name with a series that was actually quite wonderful.

I cannot believe that I made 22 posts here and recall none of it. Middle age, perhaps?

I guess that it would be best to start at season one, if buying DVD or BluRay... but is there any season that is really outstanding compared to the others that *might* be better to sample first?

It's not a show you can watch piecemeal, You have to start at the beginning and watch it in order for it to make sense.
Season one is very good and it only gets better as it goes along.

I streamed the whole series for free with my Amazon Prime account.

That is a representative photo of a Rainbow Lorikeet. But yes, I have owned one since probably 2006. His name is Kiwi and I have never seen another one in any pet shop or bird-fancier's home. He shares a cage with Snuggles, a female Quaker. They are best friends.

I just finished season one last night and I must agree about John Nobel. He's perfect for the role
