Digital Conversion video on youtube

I got a good laugh at this. I was surprized to hear them mention the 75-300 ohm matching transformer.

Even though its a joke, its has alot of truth. Im really curious how this all pans out when the big day arrives.

I bet around feb 09 many small businesses will spring up to hook up digital converters to analog sets for the elderly, and they will charge a fortune to the unsuspecting senior citizens.

Funny video, 100% true in a lot of ways. I recently hook up my 88 year old uncle's converter box.

I have had to go back to his house twice now because he keep pressing the wrong keys and messing up the settings. Also, his antenna won't pick up his favorite station all of the time. It freezes when the signal gets too weak. I will likely have to install a better antenna for him.

I walked him through it the last time, and made a "checklist" of the important settings. We'll see.

This is just one person, who has family to help him out. What a fiasco this has become.

Yep, I agree. Alot of people are confused over this. Even though we have a knack for electronics, its nothing. But the simplest thing involving wires confuses many many people. What really is confusing people more is making these converter boxes work in conjuntion with the VCR so they can record their TV shows. Alot of the women at my work are confused about hooking all the stuff up so it works the right way. Ive made diagrams and charts for proper set up for them. Yes, there are a good number of VCR users out there still. I hear the same lines over and over. "this is stupid, why are they doing this" etc. Granted, many people arn't affected as they have cable but lots of people that live in chicago, especially those who live in apartments pick up TV off the rabbit ears.
