looking for some zenith parts - Videokarma.org TV - Video

After looking through my stock of hundreds of NOS zenith parts, I come up short on two things I need.

I have a '72 zenith 20" table set with the built in antennas on the back of the cabinet. Its a di-pole antenna secured to the cabinet with two screws. They are pretty common. Original zenith part number is 1-208. I used the set the other day and as I folded the one antenna down, the plastic base cracked into pieces and the whole assembly fell into the cabinet! I have a picture of the set here. Im at work while typing this, so I don't have a good close up pic to show at the moment. Im also looking for a power/volume switch for a '76 chromacolor table set. This is my every day TV in my shop and the power switch failed in the off position. Its a typical plastic shaft CW turn on type switch. P/n 63-10228. Heck, I had the box for one with no control in it! Darn it all! Moyer came up short too. Any help is appriciated-Thanks

I'll look around and see if I have a switch for you. I know for a fact I don't have the antennas, I looked for them last week for you. I'll check Chesters too.

Solved the power switch issue, I actually took it apart to fix it. Have to be creative when the OEM parts don't exist. The plastic tab that actuates the on/off lever snapped. So I used a tack nail, heated it with my soldering iron and stuck it through the disk where the plastic pin once was. It took a few trys until it melted through, then I heated the tac and melted the head of the tack to embed it into the plastic, then was able to cover over it with melted plastic using the soldering iron to make it completley integral and solid. Its rock solid now, just sliced the remaining part of the tack off with the dremel and it works great. Not loose at all. Chroma II is back to daily use in the shop now! Still need to solve the antenna issue though. Thanks for checking Mark.

Good job! Sometimes it's more fun to fix things that way, feels more rewarding than just sticking in a new part. I've been there a few times myself. I will keep looking around for that antenna, Chesters MIGHT have it. I'll also look in my crap in the garage this weekend. Despite the weather, I'm going to try to get that thing cleaned up. I'll send you some pics, you'll laugh your a$$ off!

I might have that antenna you're looking for. The one I have is from a metal-cased 25CC50 I parted out years ago. I'll look for it over the weekend and let you know.

I found the Zenith antenna I have. It's a 1-217. It has both whips on a single base. They have a ball and socket base, and the whips go into the set when lowered. The antennas are spaced 1" center-center , and the mounting
screw holes are 2-3/8" apart. (sorry, no digital camera).

If this sounds like it would work, you can have it for the cost of postage.

So far it sounds perfect. When the antenna is folded down, what is the length from the top of the antenna to the top of the cabinet? I know some antennas stuck out of the cabinet more than others. Its probably the same as mine though. Is yours black or brown plastic, and does it have the red antenna leads? Just curious. Im interested either way, as mechanically its a perfect fit.

I took another look at that antenna, the tips of the whips stick up 3/4" from the base of the antenna when it is fully lowered. Also, it extends 10" into the set. (It came from a 25" set) The base is black plastic, and yes it has the red twin lead. If you're still interested, PM me with your address, and I'll
