weird crt tester on ebay

item 360081415420 it says it will check signal and anode who has tried one of these. i believe it will only check video signal from the chassis in a crude way.

Hickock Eye Chek

It looks to be the same thing as my Hickock Eye Chek. I scanned the instructions which explains what it does. Looks like it might be useful for a quick check for a few problems, but not much more. You clip it on the top of the set to make adjustments from the front. Never tried mine. Still NIB. The tube is a 6AF6G with a Sept. 1952 date code.

I have a very similar one called "Pix Eye". I googled it and found a pic of one on the web: http://vintage-electronics.com/photos/6740.jpg

I've used it 3 or 4 times and it does exactly what it says. Proves out your video and B+ and bias. Shows operation of brightness and contrast controls if your CRT is dead. It's a novelty to look at, but you can accomplish the same with an O'scope. Back in the day I guess the serviceman couldn't carry his O'scope with him. This thing, he could...
