Another Portacolor find

Got this one from the same house as the Philco combo. Not sure as to the year, Any ideas? It even came with the factory stand!
It was in the bedroom so I plugged it in and turned it on to see if it still worked, Nope! It just went boom and a puff of smoke came out the back! Maybe that cap blew up by the horiz out.

I've got that same model in my basement. I brought it home from the dump, and turned it on and got nothing, so i salvaged the tubes. If you need any parts, ect., I'd be glad to help.

Interesting-- I've never seen a regular tube-type PortaColor with a slide pot volume control or a rocker switch for power on/off, similar to those on the PortaColor II.

As for when it was made, the fact that it has the brightness and vert. hold controls at the bottom, but has the continuous-style UHF tuner would make me guess 1974 or '73, but the hinged handle and the style of the tuning knobs would make me guess it was a few years older than that. So, have a look-see at the date codes on the tubes, and that'll probably be about as good a clue as you're going to get.

Glad you managed to bring it back to life!

The newest tube is dated 71-09 so I guess it is a late 71 model or 72.
