New television museum in the Detroit area

I have decided to start a television museum in the Detroit michigan area to try and preserve some of the history of the late 60's tube tv era. Also, I am doing this in response to all those people that look at me strangely and say "what are you going to do with all those sets?" and "you can't watch them all at once" They will be proven wrong with this museum where people from all walks of life can come and marvel at the technological advancements of televisions of the 60's. Secondly, They will be able to watch them all at once as all of them will be turned on and tuned to the same station.
I will call it the "Not so Early Television Foundation" I don't have a lot of money behind me, And will have to start small.
The first building housing the collection will be a gutted mobile home in my friends junkyard to start with.
Hopefully, With donations rolling in I will be able to move up to a fire gutted house on Detroits East side complete with a swimming pool in the basement.

Your plan to have all the sets turned on at the same time gave me a brilliant idea on how to not only make the museum actually pay for itself but very likely to turn a profit..................


Get in touch with some local hospitals or HMO's and have them install X-Ray film holders in the wall facing the TVs. When a visitor stands in front of all those sets he/she'll be also getting an X-Ray picture taken at the same time!

I don't have any real $$ to help out but I would love to volunteer in my spare time. It would be a real honor if I could help to maintain the sets and repair any that go down. Of course, the Zeniths would be the biggest honor!

P.S. Nope, the latest acquisition hasn't arrived yet.

When I had the recycling company I tried to put aside space in the warehouse for the "collection" but now it's all back in my basement.
Henry Ford museum had no need for anything tv related (I called there late last year after going there for the tour), What I saw was a pitiful assortment of sets that had the chassis taken out and color monitors shoved in playing period shows.
I remember a black and white from the 50's an RCA roundie from the mid sixties and a Zenith corner cabinet console from the late 70'S
Knobs had been ripped off the rca by kids and I remember looking into the hole straight through the set, Gutless except a crt and small chassis!
I suggested a section with either an old b/w or early color with the back off and tv man mannequin and tube caddy nearby showing how home service was and what an old set ACTUALLY looked like inside.
I am sure they were laughing after they hung up the phone with me!
