An unpopular Quasar at a thrift shop!
I suspect it's unpopular but I also suspect it's reliable. It was made in September of '76. It's about a 9", I guess, in a cabinet that looks like it should have a 13" screen. It is in good shape and must work since it's for sale at a bargain price of $50.00 US dollars! The neat looking Quasar color logo has it's red wiped off.
I doubt any of you are near here or want it but just thought I'd give the info. Somebody may have a sentimental reason for wanting it. It's at Debbie-Rand Memorial Thrift Shop in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida. That place is special to me because a dear friend, Wanda St.John, worked there until she passed. I would come in on Friday to see her but I failed at bringing worthwhile conversation to her(I bet you are very surprised! Ha!). I wanted to but could not think of what to say and it brought me to feel quite mentally deficient(I know, I know, you figured that out I'm deficient already!) and depressed knowing she would be gone soon. It is heartbreaking to think of her there alone sorting clothes instead of being with her many relatives talking about the past or whatever. I had met her as a child and a few times as an adult because her son Reed dated my mom. She made brownies for me in recent times for Reed to bring when I had him over for a mini cookout of grilled steak. I thought that was pretty cute of her to do. Reed was a great man who, just a couple months later on Mother's day, literally drank himself to death and I know he did it because his mom was his last good relationship in his family that did not try very hard to appreciate eachother. I failed Reed as well. I try to be a better friend to anybody but always seem to do or say the wrong things and or not do or say the right things. It's a constant frustration for me. I hope I did not make any of you guys mad for telling a less than happy go lucky tale of a repair. I just had to attach it once I mentioned the place. |

A '76 Quasar would have been made a couple of years after the Matsushita buyout. I'd be interested in seeing a picture of that one! I would keep an eye on it in case they drop the price. I can't see that set bringing $50; but, if it does, more power to them.
