No more Zenith TV's at Sox park.....

I went to the Sox game last weekend with some friends from work and was pretty dissapointed with what I saw. All of the ZENITH TV monitors which you would find all over the park were gone. All have been replaced with "LG" flat panel sets. The reason I thought those Zenith sets were cool is because they were custom made by Zenith for what was then Comisky park. All of the sets read "ZENITH IS THE OFFICAL TV OF THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX" and was molded into the cabinets above the control panel. It was so neat. I went to 2 games last year all of those sets were still in the park and they all had great bright pictures yet! I was surpized and had to take a look at one. I looked at the back of one that was at a concession stand and was built in November 1990 if I remember correctly. The new park didnt open until 1991 and I was there on the second game at the new park and remember those TV's. They were anything from 17" sets to 25" sets. I really hope those got sold or auctioned and not junked. That would be a cool piece of history to own as at that time Zenith was as much of Chicago as the Sox.

Shame, but it seems like they tried to keep it in the family knowing that LG is the closest you can get to a Zenith now.

Most likely, all of the old Zeniths were already recycled and junked, and not sold. Nobody attempts to sell CRTs anymore.

I can also remember Zenith TV sets at Geauga Lake amusement park (which doesn't exist anymore) in Aurora, Ohio in the late 80's/early 90's. They were in special cases with glass front pieces for weather protection and were positioned in the lines you'd wait in for the rides...cant remember what was played on them though.
