Speed Racer

I still can't get over how good this film is. Just saw the Rotten Tomatoes reviews, and went to see it just for the visuals. What an awesome surprise.

If you have ever had a moment in the sun, or been in the "zone". Or that love of the race. How can you not like this film.

It has it's small flaws. I felt like I was in the car with him. I really think John Goodman plays an awesome Dad.

It was like car karate in some scenes. I like the way it gave the back story of the characters too.

It's a playful move with serious notes, about standing up for what you believe and making difficult decisions, and the standing together of a family.

Will probably see it again on Imax, man that will be FUN!!!

i'm no speed demon, myself, but i can educate you all a little on this topic here; Speed Racer, or "Mach GO-GO-GO" as it is known in japan, was one of the very first "Anime" (japanese animation) ever released in the U.S. back in the late sixties. the other two being Gigantor (Tetsujin 28) and Astro Boy. however, Speed Racer, of course, has always been the one most cherished and remembered, for obvious reasons. it was also known for being possessed of some of the silliest english vocal dub work ever; most of the characters litterialy speak about as fast as Speed, or rather "Go Hibiki" drives his Mach 5!! anyway, i personally don't have any particular love of the series, but, it is, of course, an anime classic...

I used to watch the show when it first came out, but the commercials make the movie look more cortoonish than the cartoon ever was.

My 3 year old saw the commercial and went "go see speed racer pleeeasee"

I held out little hope of enjoying the movie, the commercials made it look dire.

How wrong i was, very enjoyable movie, lots of fun, my son loved it too.

That movie has one of the Greatest Villain speeches I have ever heard from a movie.

If this actor were to play Lex Luther

I thought the movie was mediocre at best - the first 1/4 of the movie could be removed it is so bland and dumb.

I took my kids and we all had a great time. I guess I don't understand what people expected it to be. I had fun. More importantly, my 8 and 12 year old kids had fun. I saw Ironman last weekend, and I'll say it was better, but Speed Racer was great fun and I think it delivered everything it promised. What more can you ask?

Yeah, I haven't seen it but read some reviews, and I can just tell it's not something I want to sit through with my kid for almost 2-1/2 hrs...although she'd probably love it (she's kind of a tomboy).
