While I was in Cudahy.....
I went to the Value Village and the always have good stuff there. {none of the local thrift ever has anything.. go figure} and I found two nice sets, a '76 Chromacolor II 19" and a '75/'76 GE B/W 12" set. Both worked well and now only the GE does
about 5 hours in, the CCII lost all control of the contrast and color sentry does nothing as well. But hey, I'll fix it {when I EVER get time}. Picture now looks like the contrast is down all the way, turning it up only washes out the color.Again, sorry for the huge pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() OTA broadcast ![]() ![]() I already have one of these GEs but like this one better, it has a much nicer cabinet and sharper picture.

Nice finds.
I acutally found the exact same zenith at an estate sale in north riverside yesterday. I left it there because it was really dirty and in a damp basement. Figure a cleaner one will come along. It worked perfect though. If I grabbed it, you could take that volume knob off. They seem to be missing on these every so often. If you come out here for the admiral, bring it with and I'll get it going. I have about a 100 zenith modules of all sorts. You can get that convergence coil when you come out here too. |

Sounds good! Yeah, the missing knob bothered me but its been a long time since I've found a Chromacolor II. Also, thanks for the offer, I will bring it. It probably is just a module. I would like to use this daily and give my tube sets a break for a little while. Speaking of, I'm using the GE at work right now and getting paid double time to do it!

That Zenith probably has loose connections on the module contacts. Isn't that the set with the inline gun tube? Are you sure its a '76 and not a '78. I was thinking that the K line chassis was one of the last ones.
The GE looks nice as well. It's always nice to find those "last gasp" tube sets. |

Yup, I'm sure of '76, the labels are in real good shape and it says it inside too. But I will double check when I get home. The eyes can sometimes play tricks. If I am wrong, I'll post it.

Once those minor issues are fixed, that CC2 should be a good daily watcher.
I use a '78 model CC2 as my living room set. I am going to have to get a volume control pot soon, though.

I agree, check the module connections. I lost all audio and video on mine the other day and was left with a washed-out pinkish raster and nothing else. It's on the bench now (thanks Jordan for the info), and I'm gonna replace the volume control pot while I'm at it.
