"Life" brand TV?

has anyone heard of or have info on a brand of tv called "life" tv?

my dad remembers having a console tv in his house when he was a kid and the brand was "life" brand, they had it some time between 1952 and 1958 he seems to remember, it had a 21" picture tube and the cabinet was mahogany and while it had mahogany vaneer the whole cabinet seemed to have been made out of mahogany because all the wood inside the cabinet had a reddish color too... he also remembers that it had somewhat hidden caster's on the bottom of the cabinet that swiveled so you could move the cabinet in any direction and that the casters were kind of under the cabinet and hidden by a kind of wooden skirt so that the tv cabinet sat close to the floor but was still up on the casters but the casters weren't redially visible...

I searched for info on it on the web and found nothing so I'm curious as to if this could have perhaps been a small local tv making company of minnesota or what...

could the life tv brand be some how related to the muntz tv company as my dad remembers his old life tv having a large power tube on top of the huge power transformer held in by a metal clamp of sorts that kind of resembles a bear trap to me and we wonder if it could be related to the muntz company because my 1954 muntz tv has that exact same set up on the power transformer... yet the life tv was a good quality set unlike my muntz

my dad also remembers the sales man telling his father that it was called "life tv" because the tv came with a life time guarantee (of course the company went out of business so it's not really life time anymore I guess LOL)

sorry for such a long post but I'm just curious if any of these tv's are left and any info on the company and such.

thanks

Antonio

I have not heard of the Life brand, but there are many "private label" TV's that were made for department and other stores by larger manufacturers. Life is probably one of these. I can look in the Sams Photofacts index to see if Life is listed as a maker.

thanks for the help Chad... now that you mention it my dad seems to recall that his parents bought the tv at a local department store... I'll have to ask him the name of the store again because the store closed a long time ago so I don't remember the name right now as it closed before I was born...
