Thanks for the heads up... I bid! However, I only did so to "save it"... If anyone else wants it, please PM me and I won't rebid over the $12 I put on it.

A few hours to go (ends after lunch today), and I'm still high bidder at $10... I only bid $12, so if there's anyone who wants to save me a trip to Riverside County this week, please outbid
![]() If I win, I'll give it safe asylum, but have no desire to have it in the long run. Charles

LOL! I had one just like that--although the faceplate bonding was in much better shape...
Nice set for a tinker. Someone gave me the set, and I gave it a few years later to a kid down in Springfield who is now grown and off to college. Dunno what he ever did with it....

Well, it looks like it's mine... I'll clean it up, fix the tube, and see what to do with it later... Not sure when I'll go down and get it, but maybe the first half of next week.

I FINALLY made it down there to get it last night... 260 miles round trip. It's in decent shape, has a little water damage ontop from the seller's ex-wife's plant-watering. He says it was working until something happened to the 3A3 socket, and he didn't fool with it after that. The assembly work is magnificent; I'd say mil-spec! He is a HAM operator, and my experience with them, is that they are very particular with their work. He also gave me the original assembly manual, and some extra tubes (nothing rare; basically a typical CTC-xx line-up.
BUT: I really didn't have any interest in keeping this set, so it's up for adoption. I would appreciate $40 to cover fuel and the $9 I paid on eBay for the set... It's big & in my way, but it is safe from peril. Charles ![]() ![]()

just the pva bonding for the safety glass on the front of the tube.
It can be repaired, just check in the early color TV section for cataract removal.

Wow, you're right about the assembly. It looks great, wires and such so neatly laid out. That is what I like to see! I also see a hinge there, does the chassis swing out for service?

OK good on the front of the tube. BTW, all the non-Zenith Heathkits have a full metal chassis and a swing out back door. For that chassis, it would be best to find a Post Marker Sweep Generator to set the IF strip, and a scope of course, if you decide to keep it. Then to set the convergence, a dot generator. There's a lot to do.
