Dexter

Anybody watch "Dexter" last night on CBS? I don't get Showtime, so I hadn't seen it previously. I'm sure they toned it down a lot for regular TV. My wife was a little bothered by the moral ambiguity of whether he's a hero or a villain, but I enjoyed it. Just curious as to what others think about it.

I assume you mean "Dexter's Labratory"? It's a cute show, which I haven't watched in years. I like how it plays off the sibling rivalry on Dexter (the brain) and his sister (the free-spirit). As to moral ambiguity, you sound like you haven't kept up with modern animation. The hero/antihero is all over the place: Lucy (Daughter of the Devil) is the Antichrist, but as a rebelling teenager of course her love interest is DJ Jesus. There's also Xavier, the renegade Angel, who is too self-absorbed in his quest to find his fathers killer to realize that it was his own blundering that killed him. Any "Adult Swim" show plays heavily with the hero/antihero theme...but they are marketed to an adult audience.

He is talking about a show called "Dexter"

I saw it on CBS as I don't have Showtime either. I really liked it and thought it was a good show. I'll be watching next week.

I have heard that the Showtime version is much better and may have to check that out on DVD sometime.

I'm usually not a TV guy anymore but I did catch "Dexter" last night.

I thought that it was the most engrossing thing I have seen on TV for some time. I don't have Showtime so I didn't know about that. If they can keep it up, I will be watching weekly if I can.

I have seasons 1 - 2 on my home media system. I love the show. I think the writing is great. Anyboby that can make me want the serial killer to win, is a big hit.

I decided to watch this based solely on the strength of Michael C. Hall great performance on Six Feet Under. There were a couple of episodes in that series in which his character gets carjacked and kidnapped by young maniac druggie. That storyline brought out a darker and edgier side to his character.
Of course his new Showtime series has that element times 10. I'm guessing that he was picked for this series because of his performance in those particular episodes of Six Feet Under.

I watched all episodes on Showtime, and can assure you, they did a great job with the CBS version. Very little missing.

It's a great series, I just hope it continues on Showtime. No word yet on Season 3.

Mine too, I had Season 2 on DVD and nearly watched the whole lot in one go! I'm in the UK but the USA makes the best TV series (Dexter, Damages, The Wire, The Sopranos etc).

Dexter is a great show. I've been gettng the dvds from Netflix and stayed up very late because of how addicting it is. As great as season 1 was, 2 and 3 do not dissapoint! Get the dvds, not just for the unedited scenes, but no commercial breaks make it even better.

I have seen every single episode and season 3 finished late last year. They ran season one on a tv channel a year or two ago but didn't know they were running it again. What happened this particular episode and I can tell you what season it is.
