remember the ctc101,107,108,109

anybody here remember or worked on the rca ctc101 and ctc107,8,9 chassis that had the bad flybacks. rca stood behind them for 2 years after purchase. and you know after a new fly those sets were very reliable. those inline 25 and 19 inch tubes would run forever. steve

Yes, I used to drag those home as a teenager in the '90's. I've replaced a good many filter caps and soldered the MST/MSC tuner modules in them. I seem to remember a few with a loose connections on the horizontal driver transformer. A guy that lives around the corner from me still has an RCA console from the early '80's and it's still playing.

Never owned those sets. I have an '83 colortrak with a ctc-117 in it....works like a champ, osd, remote, everything. And of course my ctc97 is still soldiering on.

Was there a ctc-95? I may have owned one, but I don;t recall now.

Afriend had one purchased from Kmart in 1980. The fly went bad just a little after 2 years. A shop in Port Charlotte, Fla charged like over $250. and it lasted for at least another 6 years or more.
It was a cheapy 25" console with a one knob tuner and four knobs in a row under it. I think it had one volume on/off knob above it.
The only thing that was intersting about that set was the small RCA that you turn to unlock the tuner door.
