TRK-12 on ebay...only $2,500!
Ebay has a new listing for a Buy-it-Now TRK-12, in non-complete condition.

The bar would be the least of my worries...it's missing the entire TV chassis. Not good for much of anything other than scavenging it for parts, IMO.

There was a disaster with the shipping of one of the original prototype TRK-12s, with the lucite cabinet, when it was bought by a TV collector; it was dropped and the lucite cabinet got broken up. I don't know what ever happened to the set, so if no new lucite cabinet was built, there may be a complete chassis floating around out there someplace. That happened in the 80s, and I can't remember who it happened to.

The story goes that the lucite set was overseas (Israel?) and was shipped back to the U.S. at a time when there was labor unrest at the NY ports. It was insured for a large amount, which was incentive for a dock worker to put the prongs of a fork lift through the shipping box several times, destroying much of the lucite. The set eventually was rebuilt and is now at MZTV in Toronto.

the Plexi TRK-12
If you'd like to see the Plexiglas TRK working, just take a quick trip up to the MZTV Museum in Toronto.
On my trip up in 2005, the set was in a special area, where you could almost touch the set. A beauty--you'd be surprised how nice a 1939 TV looks, when you can see the electrons bouncing about inside!

When I got the #4 trk-12 chassis with the HV doubler Steve and I talked about making a new Plexiglas or Lexan case. We still may do that, but when this case came up and was close by I had to get it. I also got Harry's slat for it.
