recheck your convergence.that blue issue should still be visible on black and white,if problem is in convergence. sometimes those old rcas are a bear to get right and keep right. got any pics?

Use photobucket, it's free, I use it and works well, I always found that adjusting the blue convergence knob on the tri-color unit that is attached to the tube just behind the yoke fixes the problem. Sometimes you may have to turn the whole unit a bit either direction to get the blue to match up to the crosshatch.

If the blue shadowing appears under letters (or other stable immages) all over the screen, then touch up the blue static convergence adjustment. Its the upper most control on the convergence yoke. If you see blue error on the side of immages, then touch up the lateral magnet, which is the serrated adjustable magnet with the purity rings.
If you can get ahold of a cheap crosshatch generator through ebay, you will be able to pin point the convergence to near perfect. An RCA with a strong tube has a picture thats hard to beat! IF you want, I can scan you a copy of the convergence procedures for that chassis.
