Sanyo DS25204 power supply problem

I was recently given a 2004 25" Sanyo by the TV shop. I checked it and found the following parts bad:
Q601 2SK2638 (regulator)
Q613 2SC3069 (driver)
R613 .39 ohm
R612 10 ohm

R612 was a little discolored but appeared to be a 10 ohm. After changing the parts and checking for any more obvious shorts; I applied power and R612 smoked and opened. All the other parts that I changed were also destroyed. Either R612 was not really a ten ohm resistor or something else is shorted. I'd like to know what R612 is really supposed to be and if there's anything else I need to check. I figured I'd ask someone who's "been there and done that" before I toss this stupid thing.

I don't know why they didn't stick to the old 5 leg STR30xxx based power supplies. They seem to give less trouble and were far easier to troubleshoot than these switching power supplies in the new TV's. It seems like in the the newer TV's, it's never JUST the FET regulator and the fuse. It always seems to take more stuff with it.

Anyway, any help will be appreciated.
