plexi case for my ct-101 micro color

It seems that I will not be getting the plastic cabinet parts I need any time soon so I was wondering, do you folks think it possible to make a case out of clear or lightly smoked plexi-glass. I know it will be a lot of work, has anybody tried something like this before. I saw that homemade Zenith and thought to myself HMMM

Yes Eric that's true, however can I put a plexi window over the neck of the tube so I can see the filaments glowing?
