Please save this space command 600!
I was offered a space command 600 console through my website from some new home owners in Stamford, NY. The set was left behind when they moved in and they were going to throw it in the dumpster. They looked on the interent to see if someone might want it. After seeing my website of similar TVs, they figured Id like to have it. I would but its too far. I asked them to please hang onto it until I ask fellow TV collectors (AK members). Its a very nice unit, its a '66 model with the nice swing out doors. Its model 9351H, the "Florintine" with the 25MC46 chassis. They said the TV appears to work but they do not have an antenna to attach to it. I guess that means it turns on and gets snow. Hopefully someone here can grab it. If nobody can grab it, I might have to work something out to save it. These deluxe zenith sets with the nice cabinets are hard to come by. Email me if interested and I will forward you their email. And yes, the TV is FREE!

If somebody can get it from NY to Detroit, I'd hang on to it.

So close, yet so far! I'm passing through NYC this Feb. It'll probably be long gone by then.

Is there a burn on the CRT around the edges, or is that just shadow/reflection?

That is the "green halo" problem that is common on CRT's (especially Zenith's) of this era. Depending on how bad it is; it may not be as noticeable when the set is on. It can be removed. See the thread concerning cataract removal on the early color TV forum. My '68 Magnavox has this same green halo on it's currently installed '72 Zenith Chromacolor tube. I'll probably leave it alone unless it shows up really bad when I fix the set.

I need to save this set. I contacted craters and freighters and its out of thier range for pick up. Are there any other options other than craters who offers similar services? This is a real dissapointment.
Thanks |

Doug, I am planning a trip to NY to pick up another set. What city is this set in? E-mail me. (PM box is full)
