I was cleaning out my storage building and found 1 of my old video projectors. It is a 1981 Bell and Howell Avicom, these were used for inflight movies on aircraft from 1978 till 1980's.
I started to clean it up and get it working again. I got raster but I can't get the onboard crosshatch generator to come up for alignment and testing.
I have pictures in the Horizontal Hold section of the members gallery Ah i think i got it figured out! Logan

Found on of these on the curb, a Sony, last year, but it was smashed up badly. Didn't take it. Yours looks nice, enjoy!

I just read recently how these "airplane movie" type CRT projectors are capable of great picture quality.

Would it be possible to get the guts out of an old RPTV and make it project on a wall?

It is possible but you would need the service manual or a way to identify the deflection yoke and convergence leads so you could get the left/right, up/down properly oriented. The only tricky thing might be the focus as i think the lenses might be a fixed focus.

CPU , this one was OK, but the latter ones from the 90's are convertible to HDTV and are getting very collectible,

Do you know if a Toshiba 50A50M RPTV is? I couldn't find very much information on it...

I have a Provision crt projector in my storage building. It is made by Zenith. Currently it is set up for rear projection and to fill a 10.5 by 14 foot screen from 13.5 feet. You do have to have a service manual to get the yoke connections right.

Bill and Fuji, i don't have any manuals for big screen TV's. i was lucky that the guy i bought this from had the original schematics. You might ask some of the other TV techs, if they can get you a copy.

Couldn't I just use a computer or something to reverse the video?

I have no idea about how you could do that. I know almost nothing about computers. If you could find a schematic you would just have to reverse 8 wires per crt.

I have the manual for mine. It is a professional projector. I think there is a board in it that has the terminals for the yoke connections.
