Trinitron tubes that say Made In U.S.A.

I saw my neighbors tv internals the other day when they had a guy doing a service call. (No one told me what the problem was, however) I did notice the tube sticker says Sony, Made in USA. The set was assembled in Mexico. Does sony make tubes here? Or is it sourced from someone else? The set was probably like 2001ish. ? I am confused...
