What to do?

Just picked up a couple of vintage sets: A 10" RCA 8-T-somethingorother and a 7" Admiral. The RCA is complete except for the channel indicator ring, the Admiral complete except for the back. However...the Admiral is missing a triangular chunk of Bakelite about 5X6X7 at the back of one side extending a little bit into the bottom of the case. Is this repairable or would the set better serve as a donor chassis for another Admiral? Haven't had a chance to check the CRT, however the old fella I got them from said they both worked...30+ years ago. Any suggestions?

If it means a lot to you check out this guy at http://www.theoldradiofixerupperguy.com/

I emailed him about a *busted* up GE 10T1 TV and for 165. He could repair this smashed cabinet. I'm still waiting to build the funds to it repaired.

Best of luck,
Matt D

Thanks for the link! I envy that guy's talent...I'm fairly good with wood & metal...but wouldn't even attempt what he does! And, I'm sure the formula for the "goop" he uses is as closely guarded secret as the formula for Coca-Cola. I'm going to contact him anyway...even though I'm sure his estimate is going to be over $100 for sure. The little Admiral is just too cute to cannibalize..but if the 7JP4 is weak or bad...all bets are off.

I have a cabinet for the admiral somewhere.
It's not broken but is pretty dull and weathered and would need to be painted to make it presentable.

I'll dig it out if you're interested.
