Found '82 Magnavox 13" color w/ digital tuner

First off, let me tell you guys how much I've enjoy reading this forum. I wish this had been around back in the '90's when I was actually still finding tube TV's as a teenager. Looking back; I should have kept some of those sets; but, all I can do is try to start over. With that said, I found this '82 13" Magnavox color TV with digital remote tuning from a retired Magnavox repairman. This set has the 0-9 keys as well as volume up/down and power controls. The channel indicator is a red LED readout. This set also had the LDR that was so pupular in the '70's. The chassis number is 13C302 and it is a modular chassis. The chassis folds down to gain access to the modules. I'm sure this is one of the last small screen sets with a modular chassis. I would like to know if anyone remembers these and I also would like to find the ultrasonic remote that went with this model. I only remember seeing one other version of this chassis with a single knob tuner.

Maybe next time I write; I'll have one of those tube type Zeniths!

I thnk by 82 Magnavox was using infrared remotes. You may be able to use a universal remote. My 78 star system was the last ultrasonc remote I had.

Great find! I almost never find magnavox's. I am probably one of the few on here that also collects 80s TV sets. Hell, they outperform today's budget sets in a second.

That sounds like the TV we had for sale in the shop where I worked in Illinois 1981. Does it have two horizontal rows of five buttons for the channels, or something like that? Can you post a picture of it? I don't think the 13" had one, but the 19" versions of the set I am thinking of were the first consumer TVs to have comb filters for the full 330 lines of horizontal resolution possible with over-the-air NTSC. Discovision laser discs looked great on those sets.

Thanks for the information. I'll try it with a universal remote and see what happens. I have an '82 T815 chassis 25" console (that I need to find a home for) that uses an IR remote.

I used to find a lot of Magnavox sets around here; but, I've never found this particular model. It's rare to find a decent old TV around here anymore. Most of what I see on the curb and in the TV repair shop are modern pieces of junk that NEED to be trashed. My church recently gave me a CHEAP 19" Sylvania that was maybe a year old. It was used at most for one hour on Sunday morning as a monitor. That was the cheapest made TV I've ever seen. Wound up having a shorted diode off the secondary of the flyback in the 200V line to the crt. The diode looked like it should have been in a crystal radio; not in a high voltage power supply circuit!

Yes, it has two horizontal rows of five buttons for channel selection. Above those buttons, there are four silver buttons for power, volume up, volume down, and v-matic. The red LED readout is next to the v-matic button. The cabinet is woodgrain plastic with handles on the side. The back has provisions for 75 ohm or 300 ohm input. I think the tuner in this set will receive some cable channels from 84 to 01. I don't have cable; so, I can't be sure. I tried to post a picture; but, my slow dial up internet had other ideas. I'll try to get a picture posted. I do have the 19" T809 chassis version of this set in need of the 4 legged safety cap. I'd give it to someone if they wanted it.
