Just found one of these sets, it's in a fancy armoire (so says the owner). Haven't seen it yet and was wondering if someone has a pic of this. TIA

I scanned this from the RCA Redbook, maybe someone has a better picture, but this should give you an idea of what it looks like. Uses 21AP4, weighs 128lbs Chuck

Thanks Chuck, that does look like what was described to me. Is this a color set?
What chassis is that? Any idea as to value or what I should offer for it? Working condition is unknown at this time. Thanks a lot. Anthony

Dang it, I just found a pic of the picture tube (see below) and methinks this must be a B&W set. Confirmation please.

The 21AP4 is a B&W tube ,color tubes end in P22 for the most part.

 Any idea as to value or what I should offer? I know some may hate me for the following (as if they don't hate me already!) but the one good thing about this set is that it has a rectangular tube which readily lends itself to a modern chassis implant. The neat-o thing is that nowadays with remote controls one could just leave the knobs inactive and hide the remote "eye" inconspicuously. Anthony

That tube appears to be a metal rectangular B/w tube. I would generally pay around $50-75 at a maximum for such a set. Who are you buying it from, a private person...see what they want for it and then dicker with them.
Don't modern-ize that set if you can help it! Most of the old b/w sets have very good picture and sound when they are fixed up. At least if you do, save that old chassis/crt , someone else could use it.

Hi Chad, yes it is a private party....turns out it's some chicky mama and she told me that she collects radios. My feeling is that she wants it to go to a good home so price may not be that big a sticking point.
The reason I was talking about possibly converting it to a modern chassis is that I'd like to have a vintage looking color set, and it would be nice to have the convenience of remote control and not have any maintenance worries. Of course I'd try to make it as clean an installation as possible, one that could be readily converted back to original. And there's no way I'd toss the old chassis.....at the very least I'd offer it here to anyone who may want or need it. All of this is moot till I see the set in person and make a deal.
