Is there such thing as this 1988 Mitsubishi 27" CRT with S-Video input...

Please help me if there is such thing as this Mitsubishi TV? It's a 26" CRT, MTS stereo, made in 1988, black-color, highest-end model, standalone TV unit (not console), and S-Video input.

Did this TV exist in 1988? What is the model number? It must be made in 1988 and not in any other year.

I have a 1988 Mitsubishi HS-423UR SVHS VCR, so I'm trying to match this with the TV.

The HS-423UR was Mitsubishi's first SVHS VCR ever made, and that was when before Mitsubishi became very famous for SVHS VCRs in 1990.

I did some browsing, and it looks like it's easier to get a used Mitsubishi 27" CRT made in early 90s. But this is not what I want because that era is considered to be cheaply-made for me.

If I have to balance everything in between (picture quality and reliability), 1988 wins as Mitsubishi's highest peak year in quality before the quality started to go down beginning in 1989. The ones made before 1987 aren't any better (good TVs, but buggy VCRs).

Recently, I've been seeing more early to mid 90 Mitsubishi TVs dying than the mid to late 80 ones.

I bought a Mitsubishi VCR in 1987 with all sorts of bells and whistles, (you could set the coring to off, so you could copy tapes without the usual degradation), but there was an intermittant bug that would cause the playback to get all smeary. Even after 4 trips for warrenty service they never did get it right....

I did an extensive research online and found three 1988 Mitsubishi 26" TV models. They are CS-2656R, CS-2657R, and CS-2671R. If anybody has any info of these three models, does it include a S-Video input or just a regular video input? Thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure the 2671 does have SVHS, but beware of about 8,274 leaky caps on those 80s and early 90s Mitsubishis.

I am unsure of the model #, a good buddy of mine has a 1989 Mitsu 26" with S-video, still in use today in his home office - hope this helps a little

The leaking caps started in 1989.I've never seen 1988 and older with leaking caps. My mom's 1987 60" Mitsubishi projo is still going strong and never had a capacitor leak and none have been replaced.Only 2 parts have failed in it's life. The HV block failed in 2000. And more recently the aft coil would drift every 6 months to the for a couple of years until I coulld no longer get it to stop searching so they are using a vcr as the tuner through the video inputs.
I can't believe it's stiill running wth 13 to 14 hours a day on it. Great picture.Even the original STK4273 convergence chips are still functioning. I've replaced more of those in Mitsubishis than you can skake a stick at and you have to use STK4274. The 4273 was discontinued.

Picked up a Mitsubishi CS-2671R today. Had to drive 4 hours away to pick it up. When I bought it home, everything works okay except that the overall picture itself is more greenish than normal. The contrast doesn't seem to go any higher once the contrast setting is set to 2/3. Also, the right side speaker in the TV does not output any audio if the volume is set to low. I need to raise the volume in order the right speakers to output any sound.

Can this one be fixed, or is it a worn-out TV I have? I do not know how much usage it got, but the TV is in like-new, excellent condition (no dents or blemishes).

i agree. the HS-U70 S-VHS is a 1988 model, and the best VCR ever designed IMO.
