RCA from around 1953-54 or so. These are nice performing
sets.

Thanks Randy for the fast reply. Just wasn't sure what it was. It looks in pretty good shape. You really don't know what is inside. Anyone care to guess the picture size on this ?

I have one like it, in a bottom-price formica-like cabinet. It's a KCS-83, and worked when I got it home in '86. The tip of the channel knob is supposed to light.

I really appreciate all the info from the great people here on the forums. I have emailed this person 3 times in the last 3 days with no response. I even emailed after the tv ended on Ebay. I didn't buy it before it ended because i didn't get any replys from my emails. I did buy an HALLICRAFTERS MODEL 820 to go with my 818 that i have now. They both take the same Sams but the 820 has a rectangular pic tube. He stated that the 820 was a 1950 model while my 818 is a 1951 . Something wrong there. Anyone know when the rectangular tube came out ? My 818 is a round tube. Heres the listing if you want to look.

I have one like this which is in a blonde wood cabinet...it uses a metal rectangular CRT which still works OK but I think it's a replacement. It seems like the metal CRT was probably in between the round sets and the all glass 21" CRT...what years were the Metal rectangular CRT used?

Chad, the 818 that i have has the 16GP4 which is hard to find (good that is). Mine is about half of what it should be.
So you think the 820 has the rectangular metal tube ? Sams lists them as using the same folder so it has to be a 1951 or newer it seems to me. Also if i read your post right the metal round and rectangular came out about the same time. So when did the glass come out ? Anyone? Would love to see a pic of your BLONDE . I like BLONDES.

I actually don't have a Hallicrafters but my blonde wood set w/ metal CRT is an RCA which is very similar to the first set mentioned here (RCA).

Well my brother picked up the Hallicrafters 820 tv for me and took some pictures of it for me. The rectangular picture tube is all glass best i can tell.
Now it really has me puzzled . When did the all glass tube come out ? He has the orginial purchase receipt of the tv (1950). It cost $495.00 best i can remember. Anyway will attach a couple of pics so you can take a look and see if the tube is for sure all glass.
