I just found that auction too, it's up to $199.00 with a buy it now of $999--hasn't met reserve and there's just over a day left.
He bemoans the fact that no one is bidding anywhere near it's value and if it doesn't reach a reasonable amount that he'll just give it to Goodwill etc. Well then, if anyone live in his area and is watching that auction then they have a chance of finding this set in one of those stores for next to nothing! Anthony

I bought one in nicer shape for 100.00 on ebay earlier this year, And got another for free from a retired RCA tech this summer!
He needs to get in touch with reality and just sell it for whatever it goes for. If he would list it without such a high opening bid and no reserve it MAY go up near what he wants. When I talked to him earlier this year he spoke about it as if it were the crown jewels! He blew me off when I told him I wasn't a "big bucks" collector! Hey, Maybe he will get what he is asking for it....

I know what you're saying, but playing devil's advocate for a moment: He makes a big point about how he got this set from the owner of an old time RCA dealer so apparently he feels that the provenance alone makes it worth a ton of moolah.
Am in the car biz, and get people who literally GIVE me running cars quite often. This has skewed my "value system" concerning what I'm willing to pay for cars. Am thinking the same may hold true to those is the vintage TV hobby too. Am NOT crtitcising you or anyone else in the least, just an observation---and am certainly not saying what the seller wants is reasonable or not. Just trying to put a larger perspective on things. We all know in our heart of hearts the time is probably coming when a lot of these sets will go up in value.....and only the collectors that had been playing early or those with deep pockets will be in the hobby (look at Lionel trains). Eh, but what do I know?  Am just a meckanic  Anthony

i know the owner and he has a few other sets as well,i have seen that G2000 in person,it is in great shape and even the remote is still in a bag,the few nicks are from moving it around and not protected,i have purchased a few sets from him that came from that RCA dist..and all were mint inside.. like they came off the showroom floor,he will not donate it to goodwill.
he bought the entire lot a few years ago. I told him he should power it up and take pics of the inside. terry
