The Smothers Brothers other series

A mention of the Smother Brothers in the Music section begs the question, how many AK'er remember the first Smothers Brothers series that showed up a couple years before the "Comedy Hour"?

It was a favorite show of mine as a kid and since my older siblings all loved the Smothers Brothers, I got to watch it.

It doesn't seem to have been released on DVD.

Faintly remember it, but remember "Comedy Hour" very well.

I can't say I remember it well, since I was born in '61, but loved the Comedy Hour. Wasn't that on right before Sonny & Cher? I always wondered if "Yo-Yo Man" had a deal with the Duncan yo-yo company?

My brother sent me this link to The Association on The Smothers Brother Comedy Hour. You gotta love the goofy introduction they give themselves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYJhhKSXOBo

I do remember "The Smothers Brothers Show." IIRC, it only ran for one season way back in 1965. Dick was a business man and Tommy was his deceased brother who was now Dick's rather bumbling guardian angel. I seem to remember that Tommy would cross his fingers and look heavenward whenever he got caught scheming or fibbing or whatever.

It was a better than average sitcom for the period but not the groundbreaking classic that the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" was. That show was one of the real gems in American television history and THAT is the one I remember most fondly.

I didn't remember it, and still don't even with Dan's synopsis. However, I bet it was funny. They were too smart for most of the audience, and virtually all of the studio execs. They had the kind of timing only siblings (Marx Bros.) can have, similar to the harmony only siblings can have (Cowsills, since we are talking circa 1965). I watched that Association clip three times. Might have to add them to the list of others from that era I've recently explored -- Paul Revere & Raiders (compendium set), Three Dog Night, Donovan, Procol Harum (slightly later), Zombies, Humble Pie/Small Faces (In a BIG way).
