Best movies to me are the ones I can watch repeatedly (within limits) & want to see again.

5. Dr. Strangelove (mentioned)
4. Any spaghetti western (just for the music alone!)
3. Twelve O'clock High
2. Dr. Zivago
1. And I can't believe not yet mentioned...........

NETWORK - '77 - "I'm mad as hell"...etc. - absolutely timeless.

Honorable mentions, not yet mentioned - Manchurian Candidate, The Parallex View, The Thing, & the origional Little Shop of Horrors.

Ron.

Seen too many to limit to just five:

The Right Stuff- Brillant from beginning to end
Dances With Wolves- perfect editing
Almost Famous- Best Rock n Roll movie ever, period!
Tie: Dave/In & Out- Kevin Kline is hysterical
The Shawshank Redemption- Powerful and gripping
Monty Python's Life of Brian- Most sarcastic movie ever
Airplane!- 25 years later and I'm still laughing
On Her Majesty's Secret Service- Best Bond movie, yes, better than Goldfinger.
Slapshot- rude, and sheer fun
My Big Fat Greek Wedding- Anybody with lots of ethnic relatives can relate
Patton- The opening five minutes are worth it alone
Bladerunner- Gets better as I get older
The Milagro Beanfield War- Underappreciated, great music
Downhill Racer- Seems like a documentary at times, dialogue is so realistic
Monsters, Inc- Pixar's best, most original story
Local Hero- Far better screen play than Sideways
