Wow-I'd forgotten about a lot of these, lots of good ones.
But the first one that came to mind was "The Kids are Alright," so another nod to that.
I also like "Quadrophenia."
Throw "Streets of Fire" in there too, like Rickr15 mentioned-because Diane Lane adds that special "something."
"The Wall" is so damn dark, I can barely watch it any more. Too depressing.

i would have to vote for these....

American Hot Wax with Tim Mcintire as Alan Freed-great music

Buddy Holly Story-some good music moments

and then I cant decide between this 2 "classics"

Zachariah, the 1st Electric Western or

Head staring The Monkees

there is some wonderful and strange music in both of these but they have to watched while under of the influence of your mind altering substance of choice to get the full effect

Great theme music (throughout) . .

True Believer- James Woods as a radical attorney. Not a bad movie either.
Mullholland Falls- All the more masterful cause it's in period with the time of events.
Copland- Masterful, period.
Basic Instinct- In spite of the picture.
The Commitments- Agreed.

Gotta mention an obscure British movie called "Little Voice." About a very introverted girl who has an amazing singing talent. Great performance by Jane Horrocks, who does her own singing.

I also enjoyed "La Vie en Rose." Marion Cotillard did a good lip-synching job, and the singer who did the Piaf vocals was incredible.
