WAL at the end likely means walnut finish so I left it out and found that result.

I would go with the Panny set. Any differences should be minor.
The only thing not Panny is the lack of red "remove me" screws.
BTW dont get a copy from Sams. Poor quality & too much
$$ OLNY OEM paper Sams are good, in fact very high Q.

Be damned if I can find a bigger image though that give a model number and sams photofact numbers.

I just went with quick and easy and got it from the SAMS website. I don't have much alternative other than waiting for a paper copy to show up. I dont have any sams catalogs at all.

How do you know there's a short? You might also have a blown diode in the bridge rectifier. Have you brought it up on a variac yet? That's what I'd do on a set that hasn't seen power in an unknown amount of time. It might save your filter caps.

I just did the brute-force method dry checking piles of TVs at the time. and one of the resistors started getting toasty/going up in smoke. so i quickly unplugged it. I will be honest, I haven't been in the tube game in well over a decade, almost 2 decades and I don't have the tools anymore so I have to start re-acquiring everything. I did get testers and things, but a variac is on my list. Tube stuff was primarily something I did as a teenager way back then, life happened and eventually got out of it before interest slowly rekindled. I was still a teenager when I first joined this forum.

I have a pile more of sets i need to analyze before i get a parts order together.

Got your work cut out now. Still its a set worthy of a good restoration given its condition and just how rare they are.
Unfortunately we didn't even have a BBS when I was a teenager, the Commodore64, Apple II and Atari 400/800 were the dominant computers.
