Operation restored! I peeled off the old tire and silicone and redoped it in Permatex Ultra Grey. Were makin' a good picture now. There is some arcing in the HV rectifier socket, but I'll clean that later. I also picked up a newish HV rectifier tube socket at Surplus City.

Another weird thing is there was some big arcs between the HV anode lead and the HV rectifier filament on the back of the socket (before I got it cleaned up) and it appeared to short out the colorburst tube, I swapped it and the color came back.

Wicked! That's awesome you got it up and running! Was it a smoker's set?

I don't thinks so, the pc boards are a bit grimy, and the hv cage was dirty, but the set was pretty clean when I picked it up.

That's good. Maybe in the socket there is some arcing from a couple pins that are by each other. take a gentle brush and some electronics cleaner and scrub the socket. Front and back.

Had some more arcing again dammit. I stupidly cut the HV rectifier filament wires the I pulled the fly out and re-insulated them with silicone, but not well enough as one of the leads gave me a tingle with the set off lol always discharge the anode/pic tube

Oh no.. been there, done that. An old Zenith color console I had once gave me a nice bite.
